Gratitude: A Devotional of Thanksgiving

People will tell about the amazing things You do,
and I will tell everyone how great You are.

Psalm 145:6

God is good!

You’ve probably heard this countless times, but let me repeat it—God is good. Wonderfully, consistently, undeniably good!

Why do I declare this? Not just because Scripture affirms it, but because I’ve lived it. I’ve experienced His goodness firsthand, and I’m certain you are too, even if you don’t feel so right now.

Psalm 145:9 (CEV)

You are good to everyone, and you take care of all your creations.

Testimonies…

Let me take you back to an unforgettable moment from my childhood…

As a curious little girl, I watched a seamstress pull pins from her mouth while sewing. Thinking I could do the same, I accidentally swallowed one at the tailor shop. Yes—really.

It lodged in my throat. I coughed up blood, couldn’t swallow anything, and couldn’t speak. Rushed to the hospital in terror and pain, I was saved by God’s mercy.

Today, I speak clearly and sing His praises. That moment could have stolen my voice… but God had other plans.

His faithfulness didn’t stop there.

Years later, as an adult, I survived a terrifying car accident on the motorway. The windscreen shattered, the car was badly damaged—yet I walked away with only a slight scratch. God kept me safe, just as He had from childhood.

His care extends even to the everyday details.

During my pregnancy, I silently craved Domino’s pizza on a certain day. Without me uttering a word, my husband walked in that same evening—carrying two boxes!

God heard my unspoken desire and provided. That simple miracle reminded me: He cares, even about my tiniest longings.

Through every twist, turn, and trial—from swallowed pins to shattered windshields to secret cravings—He remains my ever-present help.

And this truth extends to you

Pause and look back over your life. You’ll see His goodness too—even in the hardest places.

Reflections

Open your journal. Write down every moment God showed up for you—big or small, loud or quiet. Give thanks for them all.

Why? Gratitude delights God’s heart and sharpens your sight for His relentless love. A thankful spirit keeps you joyful, and thanksgiving is a powerful offering.

I am God Most High! The only sacrifice I want is for you to be thankful and to keep your word.

Psalm 50:14 (CEV)

The sacrifice that honours me is a thankful heart.

Psalm 50:23a (CEV)

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Almighty Father,

Thank You—for Your goodness, mercy, and unfailing love.

Thank You for every moment You rescued me, carried me, and cared for me.

Thank You for giving me Your Son, Jesus Christ as a ransom for me.

I’m truly grateful in Jesus’ name, Amen.

PS.

Perhaps you’re reading this, but you haven’t yet accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. I want to encourage you to surrender your heart to God’s unfailing love today. He loves you and wants to give you a new heart and life.

Make this confession below…

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge and confess You as my Lord and Saviour today. I believe You came to die for my sin and rose again that I might have abundant and everlasting life.

Please, come into my heart today and fill me with Your love and Holy Spirit.

I declare that I am saved, free and born-again. Thank You for saving me in Jesus name. Amen!
